People may not know this, but the internet is not a safe place for all users. The internet can really violate someone's privacy. Also, when surfing the web people can become victims of identity theft. Most importantly, you could meet dangerous people on the internet. If you are not careful, the internet can be a very dangerous place.
First of all, the internet violates people's privacy. People can post pictures or videos of people without the people in them knowing. Additionally, people can post abusive or offensive blogs among various websites. For example, a man in Utah dropped his lawsuit against people who had made critical comments about him on message boards and blogs. In conclusion, the internet can easily violate someone's privacy.
Also, someone could become a victim of identity theft on the internet. One in every eight Americans have become victims of identity theft. For instance, a teacher in New Jersey had her credit card number stolen and had charges from two stores in Canada. Nowadays, internet crooks use attempts of getting someone's personal information by sending trick or junk e-mails and pop-ups that make people give out their personal information because they think they are giving out the information to a known company but in reality they are not. In summary, people can easily become victims of identity theft on the internet.
Finally, many people meet dangerous people off the internet. Infact, one out of five internet users meet or have met internet predators. Moreover, many teenagers put personal information on the internet because they think it's just their friends who are going to see it, but predators can track them down. Furthermore, police found a fifteen year old girl who was assaulted by a twenty-four year old man whom she met off the internet. Many people fall into the trap of the internet predators.
When surfing the web people should be very cautious. Many people have their privacy violated on the internet. Secondly, people can become victims of identity theft off the internet. Last, people can fall into the trap of internet predators searching for innocent teens to harass. With just a click, click...and a clack, clack... the internet can be a dangerous or abusive place.
